Strange time

I am not sure that the bird population at Marton has decided what time of year it is, yesterday was cold and wet, today warmer with some sun.
A fair bit of chasing going on but not a lot of nest building can be seen, a few Mallards have already laid but the others are just posturing about.,

To long

Sorry for the gap in postings, I have been busy with my new pup, now that I am retired I decided it was time for another dog ,  so I bought a Spaniel 8 weeks old and have been spending time with a lot of basic training and walks.
Plus the weather has been crap !!!!
So here we have a few common birds shot today, enjoy.

Redwings, Fieldfares and Starlings

Today we  had an influx of  birds eating Rowan berries, if you are quick there may be some berries left on Monday but I doubt if there will be any by Tuesday.

All Hides

All of the hides are now open and are being fed at regular intervals.
Remember if you wish to use the Coarse pool hide you will require the key as it is locked when not in use.
Redwings and Mistle Thrushes have already been seen and who knows what may turn up, the only way to find out is to be there.
Last year more and more Buzzards were seen at the Coarse pool, as well as the Buzzard hide, this year both hides will be fed.

Young Life

We are now surrounded by new life, most of the common birds now have young.
I have been following the exploits of the young Woodpeckers that I was watching in the nest and they are growing, at a great rate, as can be seen in the following images, all of the other young birds are also growing on and there is a lot of activity at both of the hides that are open at Marton.
Around the site there is a lot of activity, with insect life as well as flowers and birds.
